About Lorie
I have twenty years of experience working with students to improve their reading skills. I hold teaching certificates in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For the past ten years I have tutored students online. I have the advantage of being both patient and enthusiastic! My experience includes working with both special needs and disadvantaged students. I am able to establish a good rapport with students and tailor each lesson to the student's learning style.

I specialize in students with learning difficulties and students who have been left behind due to poverty or social issues. I welcome all students!
I use reading passages at the correct level chosen especially for each particular student. We discuss vocabulary in addition to the content of the passage.
I include phonics in every lesson! The study of phonics is essential to become a good reader.
Students are taught to summarize reading passages and find main ideas and other vital aspects of each passage.
My reading lessons combine the mechanical and comprehension components of reading!
