About Shweni

I'm a science and mathematics tutor supporting students across all levels, from Year 1 through to university. I'm currently completing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology, at Macquarie University, having come into it off a Diploma of Science with a WAM of 84.25. I've also been awarded the Medibank Future Health Leaders Scholarship for academic merit and leadership, so the subjects I teach are ones I work with at a high level. I bring around two years of tutoring experience, working one-on-one and in small groups, marking exam papers, and giving feedback that shows students exactly where their marks are being gained or lost. In my sessions, I prioritise understanding over memorisation. Most students who struggle are missing one or two foundational concepts that everything afterward depends on. I identify those gaps early, address them directly, and rebuild from there. Lessons run for one hour and combine guided worked examples with independent practice, so students leave having genuinely done the work themselves. Subjects I tutor: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, and general science, at all levels from high school (including HSC) through to introductory university. Biology and the health sciences are my core strength, with Chemistry and Physics close behind. I hold myself to high standards of punctuality, clear communication, and reliability, and students and parents can expect consistent progress updates and honest feedback. About the lesson

I bring around two years of tutoring experience, working with students across all levels from Year 1 through to university. Most of my work is with senior high school students preparing for the HSC, though I also support university students with introductory maths, statistics, and the sciences. My approach is diagnostic. Before moving into content, I use the first session to work out exactly where a student's gaps are, not just which topics they find difficult, but why. More often than not it comes down to one or two foundational concepts that never fully clicked, and everything downstream of that starts to break as a result. Once I've located the problem, I rebuild from there with targeted exercises rather than simply reworking the same homework. Lessons typically run for one hour, split between working through a concept or worked example together and then having the student attempt problems independently while I watch how they approach them. That second part matters, as many errors only surface when you see someone's working process live, not just their final answer. I write custom problem sets when standard materials aren't pitched at the right level, and I keep track of what we've covered so each session builds on the last. I also place a strong emphasis on exam preparation, including past paper walkthroughs, timed drills, and managing marks allocation under pressure. On the academic side, I'm completing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology, at Macquarie University, having come into it off a Diploma of Science with a WAM of 84.25, and I've been awarded the Medibank Future Health Leaders Scholarship for academic merit and leadership. The material I tutor is content I engage with at a high level myself, which lets me go into the theory when a student needs it while keeping things accessible.
