My teaching method depends on the client. If the client needs a high mark (A or A+), we will focus together on achieving that goal. Should the client want some advice or for me to mark art-related essays, I will mark, annotate and provide advice on how they can improve. The client may also want to simply improve their work, then this will be very specifically tailored to them. In this case, I may provide examples of similar styles to their work and techniques that can help build and improve their art.
I tend to plan the lessons out based on week-by-week progress, so that both my client and I know what we’re focusing and working on.
I am currently a Swinburne University student studying Bachelor of Psychological Sciences. In 1+2 and 3+4 VCE, I studied Studio Arts. In 3+4, I achieved 100 in semester 1, including folio and essays. I tutored 2 students for Studio Arts whom went from C+-B+ to A and A+. Non-academic tutoring involves enhancing the client’s styling, exposing more techniques and other styles, so that they can further build the foundations of their style and work. Academically, there will be a solid plan based around the syllabus and the work required from them to be graded. Typically, the first lesson lets me understand how to plan for future lessons to further build the skills they require for a high grade. Lessons will always be formed around their progress and tailored to their needs.
