About Kathryn
I have been tutoring for nearly 30 years, also taking on roles as band leader, composer, orchestra member and musical director for regional theatrical companies. I am passionate about translating the language of music to others so more can enjoy playing their instrument of choice. I have a strong background in music theory and sharing the language of music in ways so others can easily understand, read and enjoy their chosen genres that they love most. I balance lesson time with the need for understanding and learning with the joy and fun of musical creativity.

I have learned different methodologies for teaching music over the years and have found the best results come from helping students learn fundamentals intuitively incorporating the learning required progressively as the student levels up their abilities and ability to tackle more complex pieces. I have taken students through to diploma level exams and I get results that stick.
