About Stuart

Stuart Brignell is a professional Alto Saxophonist, Producer, and Bandleader. A formidable and stalwart force on the alto saxophone, he weaves together rich harmonic and deeply emotional melodies that have gripped audiences and listeners around the globe. His voice on the saxophone has been regarded by many a listener as “aiming and penetrating deep into the heart”. He began relentlessly studying and pursuing music at the age of 10. He has toured Europe, the U.S.A and much of Canada with an underground yet widely celebrated progressive jazz outfit “Art The Band”. This group also compiled significant radio play from Canadian and international stations during their activity as a band. He arranged and performed saxophone and flute parts for “Baby Mother”, (May 2022) a single by Juno-nominated RnB artist, THE HONEST GUY. The single went on to chart on the top Spotify RnB playlists and gained over 100,000 plays that summer. Stuart was invited to contribute saxophone work on the Drum Day 2024 showcase video “Revive”, featuring Adrian Bent, Drummer for Drake among others. The Drum Day series is an internationally celebrated drum video series showcasing the talents of the best drummers in Canada.

About the lesson

Curriculum includes Jazz-focused studies with supplementary classical and contemporary music material. The goal is to make the study of the instrument fun and inspiring for the student, while always delivering the highest quality education experience! I utilise a tailored teaching approach that is unique to each student's individual learning styles and interests. I am privileged to have travelled the world playing with various world-class artists and bands, and I bring my decade-long sideman experience into the classroom, so the student can receive the knowledge I have gained over my time in the industry. I also hold a Bachelor's of Jazz Performance from Humber College (Toronto). My teaching style will benefit most, the student who is aspiring to become a working musician, but is certainly not limited to only this type of student. I offer 60-minute lessons, and am open to longer sessions if the student requires it. My lessons are open to students of any age and skill level!
