About Martan
I have been a working, professional jazz pianist for over 50 years. I absolutely love playing and teaching jazz. In fact, it's totally fine if you don't choose to play jazz. Music is for fun! I also love teaching on Zoom.
I have an MA in Music in classical piano. I've authored three internationally distributed books on jazz improvisation. Currently I have two online courses: JazzSkills for Piano and Jazz Masterclass.

I teach improv as a language. If you want to spontaneously improvise, you need to have the basic foundation exercises. Once the language is in your subconscious, you can play and have fun. The next step is to learn jazz styles.
I teach in a step-by-step method. Once I know your skill level, I give specific exercises to practice. These exercises are easy to practice. Once they are in your subconscious, you can express yourself in music. It's fun.
