About Kirk
I have never taken music lessons, but I have been playing guitar for thirty years. I started learning about music theory about 15 years ago when I decided to get serious about creating my own music. I was immediately hooked by all of the different combinations of intervals, and figuring out all of the different ways a person can carve up an octave. I have always hand drawn all of my own charts because I didn't have a printer until recently. Because of that all of my charts and the lessons that I have created for various social media platforms are displayed in great detail. The small lessons all lead up to the more complex aspects of music theory.

These lessons are for the beginner, as well as for intermediate students of music theory looking to get a better understanding of exactly how music theory works. I tend to create fairly short lessons, this way I can really break down all of the more complicated subjects. This way students will really have a good grasp on exactly HOW they arrived at the answers they seek. I also rely heavily on visual aids that utilize the same color codes for each of the twelve notes to keep lessons interesting, and uniform.
