About Sylvia
I have a Bachelor of Specialise in Secondary Schools, I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. I have been teaching now, since 2004. I have travelled a lot especially throughout the country regional areas, such as Quorn, Port Augusta, Millicent, and throughout the Yorke Peninsula, my favorite region yet. I have also been a teacher in the city and northern suburbs schools.. I was a single mother myself bringing up 3 young children of my own, and working full time as well
Now all my children are young adults themselves all working or studying, and my son has a son as well now, who is Autistic, so I'm a grandmother who also has skills and knowledge working with Special Education children, or any child with any disability, illness, or someone who just needs that extra bit of help and guidance, well I'm the one who can offer all that and more, it just needs to be that rapport with any student I teach, and the rewards that they will achieve... As I am equipped with more than one subject, I would say firstly that I'm very versatile and flexible with my teaching methodology, as I am able to teach so many different topics that students can adapt to. Not only different topics, but subject areas such as English, Mathematics, Science, Drama, Media Studies, Home Economics, and many others. My Speciality is with Secondary School students, but I have worked with all ages of children even as young as babies and toddlers, but anywhere between 5- 18yrs old is fine with me, I can even help and support young Uni Students, especially the 1st and 2nd year students, ( I went through Uni twice, 2 Degrees, nearly 10years full time study, I absolutely loved it, best experience for any one who wants to study ). I have a unique way I approach my students, and I get them into a mode that they want to achieve in life, and to do that you need to succeed, be successful, you need motivation, to motivate, you need to have drive and ambition, and to be ambitious well you need to want it, and go for it..Lesson one with student is to get a good rapport and of course trust with them. They need to want to work with me, you get a connection or you don't.. That's it, I hope you decide to choose me, as I try to make the lessons innovative, interesting, and unique, but most of all not mundane and boring but with flair and a bit of fun..
