About Richard
I have a passion for science that I love bestow on my students. As well as my teaching experience, I have also previously been an academic researcher in the field of biochemistry. I hold several graduate/post-graduate degrees, including BSc Biochemistry, MSc Toxicology, Phil (Res) Molecular/Cellular Biology and PhD Dentistry and Biochemistry. I also have also published several first author academic papers.

With my passion for science, I employ a knowledge based teaching style, used to first determine the level of knowledge that my students have, togther with identifcation of gaps in knowledge and misconceptions. I ubsequently use chunking, modelling and deliberate practice, together with interleaving of previous topics, to embed new knowledge and drive my students forward on their academic journey.
Over the last eight years, I have aquired considerable experience as a teacher. I have been key stage 3 co-ordinator for my subject and head of chemistry. I am also an AQA Examiner. Lessons are one hour long and are suitable for Keystage 3, 4 and 5 pupils.
