你好，I'm Amy. I come from China. Very glad to meet you. I was born and brought up in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi province, which is in the northern part of China. So as a native, I can speak standard Mandarin fluently. I can also speak English fluently because English was my major in university. After graduation, I went to New Zealand and continued to study tourism management and got my postgraduate diploma. While studying there, I taught my local friends and classmates Chinese, from Pinyin, the phonetic system of Chinese, to Chinese characters. My local students fell in love with Chinese and its culture immediately. And they loved my lessons as well, which was quite rewarding as a teacher. In 2013, I came back to China and later became an English teacher. I have been teaching high school students English since then. Now I have a 7-year-old daughter. I often teach her Chinese. I am qualified, because after speaking and teaching the languages over 10 years, I know exactly the similarities and differences between them. I understand the cultural conflict. I know the right amount of challenging you as a student while being encouraging. I have efficient and interesting ways of learning Chinese. For example, when teaching the tones, I will help you learn quickly by comparing with the tones in English words. So I will make your learning easier, and you will build your confidence. I will customize a lesson plan for you, tailor the lessons to your goal and pacing, and make sure your questions are answered in each lesson. If you are not a beginner, I can plan the lessons based on words you already know. My teaching content is organized and clear. You will learn new words and structures, and know how to use them in real life. I will give you many examples to explain. Apart from the phonetic system, characters, words, expressions, and grammar, I also share authentic culture with you from time to time. After each lesson, I will send notes and exercises to help you review. About my teaching style, you will feel easy and comfortable in my class. I have a great sense of humor. Don't worry when you make a mistake, as I am patient. You can interrupt me at any time to ask a question. I will respond quickly to your request so as to emphasize key parts of the subject, such as pronunciation. My lesson schedule is flexible. You can cancel it in advance.
