About Serena

Hello! I’m Serena, your friendly Korean tutor.

I’m here to help you embark on your journey of learning Korean in a fun and easy way!

My love for the Korean language and culture grew from the special moments I’ve shared with friends from around the world. I volunteered for a year at Hanok Village (a traditional Korean village), sharing Korea’s history and culture in English. While studying at university in the U.S., I lived alongside international students from various countries and shared in their experiences of language barriers and loneliness. Through these interactions, I learned about the beauty of different cultures and found great joy in helping my friends better understand Korean culture.

After returning to Korea, I worked as a youth citizen reporter, covering various social issues. This summer, during the Paris Olympics, I organized a K-wave pop-up store and curated a photo exhibition on Korean history. Teaching a one-day Korean class to French and American participants during that event reminded me of the passion people around the world have for the Korean language.

I also hold a Level 1 certification from the KBS Korean Language Proficiency Test, which reflects my strong command of the language.

Most importantly, I have over 10 years of experience teaching English, which has given me valuable insights into language education. Now, I’m excited to bring that experience to teaching Korean, starting from the basics in a fun way! I’ll provide personalized lessons to help you learn about the Korean language and culture, making our learning time enjoyable together.

About the lesson

I will provide customized lessons depending on the students' level.
We can start from the basics level , learning the Korean alphabet (한글) and progress to free conversation on various social issues in Korean.

As a native Korean speaker, I can help correct your pronunciations and suggest the better vocabulary choices for your sentences.

Generally, we can follow a Korean textbook after I assess your level in Korean.
