About Alice

I've always been mesmerized by the sound of my mother tongue and learning the linguistic mechanisms that made it become such a beautiful and complex language, since Latin's evolution.

I've been studying languages for a great part of my life, graduating in Interpreting and translation in English, French and German for my bachelor and in Teaching Italian to Foreigners for my MA. My linguistic background, my national and international teaching experiences in Perugia, in the United States and here in Australia, have helped me and are helping me strengthening, improving, practicing and transmit my fund of knowledge: pedagogies, approaches and techniques.

I'll try to use Italian as much as possible during my classes to get students used to the sound of the language and to create simple and small but effective linguistic routines. I love helping students how to polish their pronunciation and understand why the language works in a certain way, together with a handful quantity of discussion, conversation and cultural curiosities. I love letting my students discover IL MIO PAESE!

About the lesson

I am specializing in teaching teenagers from y7-y12 in both my subjects and I started my career teaching Italian in an American University (VA). I am currently teaching Italian to classes of adult students.

I do know Australian Curriculum and QCAA syllabuses' guidelines and I do use a comprehensible input strategy with all my students, where I try to use Italian as much as possible providing students with challenging but feasible input. I continuously keep UDL Engagement principles in mind sparking students' motivation and engagement with a lot of speaking activities and curiosities about the Italian language, I care about understanding students' needs and way of learning while trying to build a teacher-student mutual respect and relationship: these are all keys to my pedagogy.

I do recommend, a minimum 1.5h class to begin with and while getting to know the students' level and willingness or need to improve, deciding together to add 30 minutes to arrive at 2h maximum both in person and online.

I've always taught English to Italian kids from 4 years of age on and taught Italian to early teenagers to adults. I cover all levels of language according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) from pre-A1 to C2, favoring more conversation in C1-C2 levels.
