About Liam
I have been playing, studying and performing piano for 15 years in a variety of contexts: solo, accompanist, rock band, jazz orchestra, cocktail pianist. I have experience in teaching children and adults from absolute beginner to already established pianists, and believe as long as you are enthusiastic you will learn very quickly.
Building on jazz and jazz standards, I also play all genres from classical/romantic, to ragtime, swing, boogie, west coast cool jazz, movie, rock and popular music.

As a flexible learner, I am a flexible teacher and shape my methods to suit the individual student as I recognise everybody learns differently. I use my experience to filter what is most important to learn first, providing a combination of practical performance and understanding of the piano.
I emphasise the importance on listening, touch and feel, best supported with general music theory (and sheet reading) for the 5 pillars of learning piano: pitch, melody, harmony, rhythm and texture. Ultimately, I will teach you what you want to know and play! Piano really is the most fun instrument there is, I'll show you how!
