About Audrey

I am TEFL certified and a bilingual online tutor in both English and Spanish. I grew up in a bilingual household speaking English and Spanish from an early age thanks to my Scottish and Peruvian background. My Peruvian upbringing led me to having a natural flair for the Spanish language in high school, which I used as an advantage to volunteer and assist in a Spanish S1 classroom during my spare time.

In 2017, I studied French, Spanish, translation, and CAT tools in the University of Geneva and piano performance in Jonction Conservatoire (Switzerland) as part of my first semester in a Francophone country. In 2018, I also studied translation, interpreting and history of Spanish music in the University of Salamanca (Spain) as part of my second semester. In 2019, I graduated from Heriot-Watt University with an Honours degree in French and Spanish translation studies.

After graduating from Heriot-Watt University, I taught English as a second language for a year in a Spanish primary school (CEIP Las Rubieras).

I started my career as an online tutor in 2021, and I have three online teaching certificates: "Teaching English Online" (Cambridge Assessment, 2020); "Teaching Young Learners Online" (British Council, 2020); "198-hour Virtual Level 5 TEFL Course" (TEFL.Org) as well as obtaining a child protection disclosure.

In 2021, I started teaching students from around the world as far as: South Korea, China, Japan, Russia, Vietnam, Brazil, Peru and Italy.

About the lesson

I teach Spanish from a beginner level up to an advanced level online.
My aim is that my students become competent users of the Spanish language.
I believe that classes must be engaging and tailored to suit the individual’s needs and abilities, which is why I offer the following:
1. Extra support classes
2. Learn a new language from scratch
3. Conversation classes to improve oral fluency and expression focused on a wide range of subjects
4. Feedback on written work, essays and assignments
5. Exam preparation
6. Fun and interactive classes for children as young as 5+
7. Small homework tasks and in-class tests to measure your progress and further improve on your language ability
8. Recorded lessons on Skype or Zoom (If the student is a minor, then written parental consent needs to be given beforehand)
9. Suitable for all ages and abilities

I give honest feedback on a student’s work; usually three things that they did well and one thing that they need to improve on. Although honest and critical feedback is important, rewarding student’s work and commenting on their hard work can be very motivating for the student, especially for children. That is why mistakes are important as they are part of the learning process! I also like to receive feedback from my students. I am aware that each student has their own learning style and pace; that is why I often ask my students if they are satisfied with their classes or if there is anything that could be improved on.
