About Nancy
Teaching guitar comes down to knowing what happens when the house lights go dark and the crowd starts talking over your first chord. I admit that I struggled for years to keep my nerves in check until I realized that preparation beats talent every single time.
My BFA in Music Industry from Belmont University gave me the technical foundation to understand why certain patterns stick while others fall apart. With 10 years of experience under my belt, I have helped many students move from bedroom practice to confident stage presence.
Reading sheet music and understanding scales and modes are necessary tools, but they do not help you when you drop a pick. I focus on practical skills like barre chords and transition speed so your hands move without you needing to stare at them constantly. My goal is to help you build a solid repertoire that can stand up to the scrutiny of a live audience. Many players come to me feeling stuck in a loop of simple strumming, and we fix that by adding electric technique and power chords to the mix.

Many guitarists walk into a room and realize they have no idea how to chain 20 minutes of music together without fumbling. Most players struggle because they prioritize memorizing solos over mastering the basic transitions that keep a set moving forward.
During our time together, we focus on the mechanics of your performance so you can maintain momentum even if something goes wrong. I use my 10 years of gigging to show you exactly how to structure your practice so you are stage ready.
We will work on specific strumming patterns and fingerpicking techniques that make your sound feel full and intentional. I treat our time like a rehearsal where we test your material until it feels like second nature to your fingers. By the end of our work, you will have a setlist that is bulletproof and ready for any venue. It is about building the confidence to walk onto a stage and execute your vision without hesitation.
