About Luke

**July 2026 Update - 1 slot left**

I am 'Luke the Tutor' and I am an entrance exam specialist and founder of Neurofied ((concealed information) an affordable 11+ preparation platform.

I do not use this term lightly.

I have tutored hundreds of students over the past 15 years in preparation of the entrance exams to some of the best Schools in the World (including the UK, Switzerland, and increasingly, the UAE). One of my Masters was on the 11+ and the role of Private Tuition, with my subsequent PhD research focused on private tuition and VR. I have given evidence in Upper Tribunal legal proceedings and was described in the Judgment as someone of "conspicuous learning and an impressive command of the subject matter". My 11+ Preparation 'The Exam Doctor' Series on Amazon is currently the highest rated on the platform (2025). I am regularly interviewed by national press on the 11+ and private tuition, and at one point in 2023 I was tutoring the ruling family members of 3 different sovereign countries (and yes, they all pay the same rate!)

Unlike many other tutors, I am selective (just like the schools you are applying to!).

All potential students must undertake a compulsory 'initial assessment' like the hundreds before them. This allows me to get an idea of both their current ability ('knowledge') based on how many they get right; and insight into their future ability ('potential') based on how quickly / competently they are able to learn content they do not know on the assessment. Equipped with this information, and the baseline scores of hundreds of students prior that have gone on to win places at the target school - I will then give an honest appraisal of the likelihood of success were they to be tutored.

This approach is important for two main reasons: 1) it grounds any assessment in objectivity, which matches the reality of these competitive exams; 2) it allows parents to make informed, realistic choices which in an area famously shrouded in uncertainty is enormously valuable.

In some instances, it might be the case that based on a child's starting level and the average progression made by my previous students in the time we have before exams that a school like SPGS or Westminster is just unrealistic - and that another school may be more realistic. It might also be the case that despite a lower starting level, the student showed massive future potential and we should absolutely back them all the way!

While there is less of an 'objective' grouding to such potential, this is where my intuition comes in and so far I have been fortunate enough to get it right! Indeed - one student scored 32% and 65% on the initial assessment, and 8 years later he is still with me and not only did he win his place at Dulwich, and then Westminster, but actually was the best performing GCSE student in the Country in 2023 and hopes to attend Oxford next year (well done Henry!)

With the above in mind, it is perhaps of little surprise that I remain consistently oversubscribed each year. I usually allocate my tuition diary for the academic year on the 1st of August, and for the past 8 years it has been completely booked by the end of the day with 3 students (younger siblings) currenly on waiting lists. While many would simply double their prices in light of such demand, I have always wanted to remain (relatively) affordable to all types of family and appreciate that for many sacrifices elsewhere are made. This is also the reason why I limit each family to a maximum of two classes a week.

This is why for me your child's success in the entrance examinations is a full-time occupation and one that I rightly take incredibly seriously - I am not squeezing lessons in during the summer holidays or after work / a day of teaching.
