About Elizabeth

Hi, I’m Lizz Straight—a poet, educator, and writer with a BA in Creative Writing and an MFA in progress (to be completed in 2026). Over the years, I’ve taught not only English and poetry, but also meditation and mindfulness for over five years, helping students manage stress while finding their authentic voices. I’ve led classrooms, facilitated workshops, hosted a spoken word radio show, and worked as an audio producer with StoryCorps. My work has always centered on storytelling, identity, and resilience, and I bring that same passion into one-on-one teaching. I specialize in helping students: • Appreciatively comprehend English Literature by breaking it down into clear, engaging conversations. • Tackle public speaking anxiety by building confidence and authentic expression. • Develop creative writing skills through supportive feedback and tailored exercises. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized—I meet students where they are and help them grow into readers, writers, and speakers who feel confident in their own voices.
