About Toby

Hello! My name is Toby and I am a medical student with over 4 years of tutoring experience. I am studying at Imperial College London but remember being in a position where I struggled and could have benefitted from help. My average grade at GCSE was 9 and I maintain a good work/life balance; I believe that you don't need to stop having fun to achieve great grades! Because I am close in age to you, I generally find that we are able to connect better and be more productive. Furthermore, it wasn't that long ago that I did my own GCSEs/A-levels and I am still confident with the content.

About the lesson

First, I perform a baseline test to understand strengths and weaknesses before making a plan (including any topics the student wants me to cover). I make lessons heavily based on practice and escalating difficulty to build confidence. Lessons are usually 45-50 minutes. I have been tutoring since August 2022 and have a good idea of time management regarding recap or previous lessons, teaching and practice in a lesson. I have also done tutoring for students at my school, known for my reliability and ability to help students in ways that they are comfortable/interested in. I tutor for 11+ and for maths and sciences at GCSE level as well as non-core subjects like Latin, computer science and economics.
