About Jazmin
Hello everyone! My name is Jazmin Venner-Charris! I am a third-year student majoring in Kinesiology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)! I knew I had a passion for teaching when I took on an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) position for the Biology 189 labs during my first-year at university. I was a student once who took this class and I knew how challenging some concepts could be. My passion for teaching "kickstarted" when I would see my students "lightbulbs" turn on! It was a very rewarding feeling for me! I taught Biology 189 labs for one year, and found a stronger passion for Anatomy and Physiology I and II. During my second-year at university, I took 3 different Anatomy and Physiology courses: Anatomy and Physiology I with lab, Anatomy and Physiology II with lab, and Anatomical Anatomy. I love learning about the human body because it's capable of so many functions that we often don't think about or fully understand. Our body is amazingly beautiful because it's so complex! Now, Anatomy and Physiology is very challenging to learn and can feel overwhelming! And that's okay! As a current Anatomy and Physiology UTA, I want to ensure my students feel connected with the material and supported every step of the way in their academic journey!

It's a passion of mine to connect with students and guide them every step of the way to ensure they are successful. Although textbook material is important, I believe Anatomy and Physiology has a visual component to learning. From cells to bones, I use memorable mnemonics, drawings, and image associations within my teaching methods and techniques. I help students who are completing their undergraduate degrees, but I'm also open to offering my services at the high school level as well!
