There are two important things to consider when teaching a sport, or anything for that matter, firstly make sure the fundamentals are correct and secondly get people engaging and participating in the activity in a fun and interesting manner. In terms of orienteering, lessons would generally revolve around local orienteering competitions and would involve map reading, using a compass and shadowing individuals around a course.
Originally from Launceston I moved to Hobart at the beginning of 2018 to start an Engineering Degree. I began Orienteering in 2011 and have represented Australia at the Junior World Orienteering Championships the past 2 years. Alongside orienteering I have 10+ years of experience as a soccer player and knowledge of writing and adapting training programs. Over the past 3 years I have gained experience as a teacher through a variety of sports including swimming, soccer and school orienteering programs.
