About James
Hi, I'm James! I'm a first-year university student and recent graduate of James Ruse AHS. I achieved a 99.45 ATAR and top Bands across all 16 HSC units I took, including 93 in English Advanced, 48/50 in English Extension 1 and 47/50 in English Extension 2.
Although I did a LOT of units, I'm here to help you with only a few. For English, I came to love exploring how texts work, developing original interpretations turning ideas cohesive stories. I want to share that process with students and help make English feel less like a guessing game.
Having only recently completed the HSC myself, I understand the pressure of assessments, trials and the final exams, and I know how valuable it can be to have someone who has recently gone through the same process.
Outside of English, I'm a drummer and musician, and I enjoy composing and performing. I look forward to helping students become more confident, capable and independent learners!

My lessons are designed for students who want to genuinely improve, not simply get through their next assessment. I focus on understanding how high-performing students approach English - as a recent 4U English student myself, I understand the demands of the current HSC syllabus and what it takes to move from a good response to a top-band one. I can provide detailed feedback on essays and creative responses, help develop study and exam strategies, and work through your prescribed texts and your chosen Extension requirements.
