About Calilah

Hey! I’m Calilah, a Year 12 student currently studying Japanese Continuers. I have studied Japanese for 5 years and have consistently ranked 1st in my class for three consecutive years, achieving multiple 100% results.

I’m passionate about language learning and enjoy helping others understand Japanese in a simple, supportive, and encouraging way. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I focus on adapting my explanations to suit each student’s needs.

I also have ADHD, which gives me a strong understanding of different learning styles, including challenges with focus, memory, and processing information. Because of this, I’m patient, flexible, and good at breaking concepts down into smaller, easier steps so students don’t feel overwhelmed.

Outside of tutoring, I continue to develop my own Japanese skills and enjoy learning about Japanese culture. My goal is to make learning feel less stressful and more engaging, while helping students build real confidence and long-term understanding.

About the lesson

I offer Japanese tutoring for beginners through to Year 11 students, with lessons tailored to each student's individual learning style, goals, and school requirements. My aim is not only to improve marks but also to build genuine confidence and enjoyment in learning Japanese.

As a Year 12 Japanese Continuers student, I understand the challenges students face because I have recently worked through the same content myself. Having ranked 1st in Japanese for three consecutive years and achieved multiple 100% assessment results, I can provide effective strategies for both understanding the language and succeeding in school assessments.

My lessons are highly personalised. Before and throughout our lessons, I identify the areas each student finds most difficult, whether that's grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, or writing. Then, I create activities specifically designed to strengthen those skills. I am also happy to go through classwork, homework, assessment tasks, and any concepts that students may not fully understand from school.

A typical lesson includes revision of previous content, targeted practice of weaker areas, learning new concepts, and interactive activities that help students apply their knowledge confidently. I focus on making Japanese easy to understand through clear explanations, practical examples, and step-by-step guidance.

As someone with ADHD, I understand that every student learns differently. I am patient, adaptable, and experienced in breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, helping students stay engaged and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

My lessons are ideal for beginners through to Year 11 students who want personalised support, stronger results, and greater confidence in Japanese.
