About Rose
I'm a full-time university student currently studying a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and I've been tutoring for four years. I was the only student in my high school to do both Drama and Economics, and I came top of both! During high school, I learned to balance studying with all my other interests including Soccer, debating, working at Coles, Drama Club and the Environmental Committee. Now I'm in university, and I'm still balancing my studies with theatre productions, a Dungeons and Dragons campaign and volunteering with a local re-wilding organization!

**Hi there! ** I have been tutoring consistently since 2021, when I started tutoring Primary School students studying for the Opportunity Class and Selective School Examinations. Since graduating Fort Street High School with a 97.05 ATAR, I've tutored HSC students and Junior students. A typical lesson will run for 1 hour, but I can prepare and teach shorter lessons at a reduced price upon request. My lessons are for students from year 4 and older. I specialize in children who are bright and gifted, and may not be challenged enough in school, or are not challenging themselves enough. I use a range of techniques in my classes, since my aim is not simply covering course content, but to help students develop study skills to become engaged, confident and diligent independent learners. My teaching techniques range from puzzles and games focused on learning content, prescribing study skills practice for homework, and using diagrams and examples to explain abstract concepts. For HSC students, I have a massive archive of case studies, exemplar essays and practice exams. Reach out to organize a free 30-minute consultation, so we can tailor my teaching style to match your child’s learning style and help them reach their full potential.

With the big jump to year 7, I booked Rose in for 5 tutoring sessions as "training wheels" essentially as my daughter learnt the ropes. Rose and my daughter established a study schedule that worked with all the clubs and sports she wanted to do. Rose helped her understand school expectations and bring her work up to a high school level. After five lessons, we dropped down to fortnightly sessions just as a little booster for any tricky points and it's been working great as a catch-all for math problems, tough assessments or whatever else comes up. Talking to other parents, I think Rose has made the transition a LOT easier and has been a MASSIVE help with managing workloads and reducing any study-related anxiety. I appreciate that she's always a text away if there's any urgent or small concerns and she's super generous with her time for advice or changing lessons.
I'd recommend Rose since she was incredibly helpful last year when my daughter was struggling with a huge course load for the HSC. My daughter ended up with a tutor just for Advanced Math, and Rose did Advanced English, Geography and Business Studies, and also gave helpful tips for university applications. I was impressed with how much she jammed into their weekly sessions, which Rose helpfully emailed summaries of. She explained concepts well and helped a lot with setting study plans and reviewing assessments before they were sent to be marked. My daughter called her teaching style "bootcamp but friendly", which apparently meant that Rose was heavy on practical examples and practise quizzes, but was warm and encouraging.
I hired a tutor to take the stress and pressure of making my son keep up with classwork off of me, and Rose has been a treat. He's loving the lessons and seems to really understand her teaching methods. I don't think he really grasps abstract concepts so Rose has been using examples and practise scenarios/questions which makes the ideas stick a lot better. She's good at celebrating his successes as well as correcting him, which I think has been really great for his confidence. His marks from this assessment block have been a lot better and I'm seeing fewer silly mistakes. Rose has also been really flexible, my son is infamous for not telling me about assessments and Rose is always ready to work in a last minute assignment or study into the lesson, which again, takes the pressure off me.
Rose taught my two kids from 2021-2023, when she helped them study to get into the Dulwich Hill Opportunity Class and the Selective School I wanted. She really clicked with the kids and was very understanding when explaining any mistakes they made. I liked how she used practise tests throughout the learning, I think it made my kids a lot more prepared for the real deal. I'd recommend Rose because she is warm, friendly, and flexible, and very astute in her explanations. She seems to have a lot more experience tutoring now too, when we hired her, she was just our neighbour!
My son (year 7) has weekly tutoring sessions with Rose where they alternate between working on his assignments, short answer questions and math homework. She always sends me the resources they used in the lesson so I can stay up-to-date and involved. He always comes out of sessions so happy and keen to keep working on whatever they were doing, it has been exactly what he need to get motivated to study again.
