About Tyler

I come from a long family line of band leaders and musicians. My father taught me my first chords on the guitar and I took it from there. In my teenage years, I took private instruction from several teachers while studying saxophone in band and general music theory at school.

After school, I obtained certificates at Berklee and the Recording Workshop in Ohio for music production, engineering, and songwriting studies. I have toured in the USA, Mexico, UK, and Europe playing anywhere from 250-cap clubs to 10,000-person festival stages.

I worked in public radio at the NPR affiliate of Georgia for several years as an audio engineer. Which further instilled a calm, professional demeanor in high-stress situations.

My goal is to give you the confidence and skills to display your talent to as many people as you see fit and to feel absolutely at ease while doing it.

About the lesson

I take a holistic approach to learning the guitar. Gaining proficiency with any instrument is a series of opportunities to face yourself. One does not simply take up the axe and cut down a forest. You must envision the home which you wish to build, discover how much wood will get you through the winter, decide which part of the forest you will simply admire, and sharpen your blade!

I will teach beginner to intermediate students. I would be honored to teach at the advanced level (my knowledge tapers off on the deeper end of Jazz and Blues studies.) In my experience, this is the junction where players either go to school for a performance degree or they "get in the van."
