About Isabel

Hello! I am a passionate and engaged English, Spanish and French teacher, with 6 years of experience teaching students of all levels and ages. I am a recent LSE master's graduate. I moved to London a year and a half ago from Madrid, where I grew up. I have been studying English and French since I was a toddler and got C2 certification in both languages before finishing high school. While studying a dual BA in International Relations and Translation at the University of Comillas in Madrid I worked for six years as a private language tutor teaching English, French, Spanish syntax and literature and general school support. My teaching style is primarily one-on-one lessons tailored to the student’s needs and school curriculum, so they are able to solidify their basic knowledge and go above and beyond. I believe a total immersion style – where the class is conducted in the target language – is the best way for students to get a grasp of the language and increase their confidence (with complete beginners the system is different, but I aim to get them up to speed as quickly as possible). I am also a big fan of using popular culture as a vehicle for learning languages, such as TV shows, books and films. During my work as a tutor I had the opportunity to work with children with learning difficulties, such as ADHD, and learned how to develop alternate teaching methods that made them thrive, such as dynamic teaching and positive reinforcement. I primarily taught primary-aged school children, although some of my students were in high school and some were adult and mature students. I enjoy working with children and their ingenuity and curiosity always astounds me. I also believe it is important for children to get ahead in their language studies as early as possible, since learning a language later in life does not come as easily (although it is perfectly possible! I am currently studying to get my B2 certification in German, and my adult students were just as engaged and progressed just as quickly as younger ones). I am passionate about languages and giving students of all ages the necessary tools to engage with a language confidently, opening the door to new knowledge and experiences! Not only did Isabel show tremendous patience with my son, she knew how to adapt the situation to his needs. She got down to his level so that learning was fun and easier for him.

Isabel also helped him with maths, history, geography, Spanish and English, since she speaks all three languages fluently.

Lessons were always prepared in advance and she was always punctual.

My son's grades improved greatly and we were very sad to see her go.
