Hello! My name is Maria Paola, and I am a professional translator, with a Master's degree in Translation. My passion for foreign languages and cultures, especially Japanese, led me to specialize in this field. I was lucky enough to study for a year at a Japanese university, an experience that deeply enriched both my language skills and my knowledge of the local culture.

My teaching method
Learning Japanese can seem like a challenge, but with the right approach it becomes fun and engaging! I use a mix of interactive techniques to help you memorize vocabulary and master grammar without stress. In practice, I like to make everything more visual and practical: we will use images, quizzes, and lots of real-life situations, because theory is not enough – you have to put yourself out there!
Each lesson is a little journey: not only will I teach you the language, but I will also make you explore unique cultural aspects, from traditional holidays to manga and anime, to Japanese cuisine. Get ready to discover Japan in 360°!
How a typical lesson of mine unfolds
Warm-up: Let's start with a short conversation to warm up, reviewing what we learned in the previous lessons. We'll talk about how your day went or your plans, in Japanese of course!
New content: I introduce a new topic, whether it's a grammatical structure, new vocabulary, or maybe some kanji! I explain everything with practical examples, and don't worry, we go at your own pace.
Interactive Practice: Let's do role-playing games, quizzes, or discuss an anime scene. This is where you can let your imagination run wild and apply what you've learned!
Q&A and closing: at the end, there is always room for questions and doubts. And I leave you with a little creative task or exercise for the next meeting. Thank you!
My teaching approach
Every student is different, and my lessons are adaptable to your needs. If you are a complete beginner, we will start with the basics: hiragana and katakana! If you already have a basic, we can go deeper into grammar or advanced conversation.
Additionally, I like to incorporate elements of Japanese culture into each lesson. You may be interested in learning why Japanese people say "Itadakimasu" before eating or how they celebrate Tanabata, the festival of the stars.
