About Ruby

With over 8 years of experience teaching voice and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I am passionate about helping singers grow both technically and artistically. I work with students of all levels, from school and college singers to adult and professional performers. My focus is musical theater and Broadway singing, where storytelling and vocal technique must work together. I guide students in acting through song, helping them communicate emotion clearly and authentically. Stage presence is a vital skill, and I help singers develop confidence and comfort in performance settings. I place strong emphasis on belt technique, ensuring it is healthy, supported, and expressive. Vocal agility is also a major focus, preparing singers for quick changes in range, style, and emotion. My jazz background supports my strengths in ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory. I believe these skills help singers become more confident and independent musicians. Each lesson is personalized and interactive, designed to support the student’s individual goals. I prioritize safe vocal techniques and long-term vocal health. I enjoy creating a supportive learning environment where singers feel encouraged to explore. I would love to help you prepare for the stage and enjoy the journey along the way.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping singers communicate emotion clearly and honestly. Singing is storytelling, and every song has something important to say. I work with students on lyric interpretation so they understand the meaning behind each word. This helps create strong emotional connection and believable performances. We explore storytelling through singing by shaping phrases, dynamics, and tone. I also guide singers in conveying meaning to an audience, not just singing for themselves. Authentic expression is always encouraged. Technique is taught to support freedom and confidence. I work especially well with expressive and narrative music, including styles similar to Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate time to refining how singers emotionally move their listeners. Lessons are supportive, focused, and clear. I help students feel safe expressing emotion through their voice. My role is to guide growth, confidence, and communication. Singing becomes more than sound. Students truly embody their songs and perform with purpose.
