About Betty
I have been a Teacher, Tutor, Trainer, Coach, and Instructor for over 25 years.
During my career, I have tutored over 1000 students-really too many to count.
Student Course grades leveled out with less of the lower grades and elevated grades remained high. I have never graded on a curve because I think it is not a valid form of giving feedback through grades
Student retention increased in my courses and That type of behavior tends to carry over to other areas of study. More students were finishing their programs of study so they could graduate.

Hello,
Meet me first: I enjoy life and am grateful for what each day brings. The activities I do for fun and relaxation are tennis, rollerblading, golf, hiking, reading, biking, computer artwork, walking my dogs, bowling, and meeting with friends. Every day, I try to listen intently, discover something new, give to others, show someone I care, exercise, and laugh a lot.
Education: Ph.D. 1990; M.Ed 1981; B.A. 1977
Foundations of my tutoring are: encourage students to be confident when asking questions, treasure knowledge, know mistakes are learning opportunities, realize that learning is a process, and grasp that hard work can be enjoyable.
I believe that every student is hard-wired for success but in many cases, it needs to be drawn out and brought to the forefront to jump-start the learning process. Each student is also unique and most often learn in different ways. Students might do better when they "hear" things or when they "see" things or when they "do" things and different combinations of those three styles. Each student is one-of-a-kind and it is vital to get a strong grasp of their background, education successes and disappointments, learning styles and goals for what the desired outcome of learning is for them.

Details
I want every person who needs tutoring to get it. But research shows that some investment will provide greater incentive to work and finish assignments. I will use a sliding scale when truly needed, knowing I have been burned in the past. I trust everyone until they prove me wrong. Starting on an honest footwork will allow us to work together better and reach the goal you are shooting for. I look forward to meeting you.
