About Roisin
Hi, I’m Roisin, a second-year Biology student at UCL, specialising in Human Genetics. I’m a supportive and encouraging tutor who’s passionate about helping students feel confident and capable in Biology. With a solid academic foundation and experience both in tutoring and teaching, I aim to make lessons clear, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. My tutoring style is friendly, encouraging, and focused on building student confidence. I strongly believe in the power of positive reinforcement to keep students motivated, and I emphasise the importance of active practice, especially through exam-style questions, to build both skill and familiarity with the content.
A typical lesson lasts one hour and is structured to include a mix of concept review, interactive discussion, and plenty of practice with exam questions. I tailor each session to the student’s pace and learning style, making sure they not only understand the material but also feel confident applying it under exam conditions.
I have experience tutoring younger students, as well as teaching piano, which has helped me develop strong communication and explanation skills. I teach GCSE Biology for all major exam boards, including AQA, and I provide tailored strategies to help students retain information more effectively—such as visual aids, memory techniques, and spaced repetition.
My lessons are ideal for GCSE students aged 13–16 who want to improve their understanding, boost their grades, or gain more confidence in biology.
