About Carl
I am currently studying Engineering at UCL and have always enjoyed Mathematics, Physics and problem solving. I have a strong academic background and experience in international competitions including the British Physics Olympiad, AIME and Euclid Contest. I am a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English. I also work as a UCL Transition Mentor, so I am used to explaining ideas clearly, listening to students and supporting them patiently. I enjoy helping students become more confident and independent in their learning.

I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, goals and learning style. In Maths and Physics, I emphasise understanding the underlying ideas rather than simply memorising methods, then reinforce them through worked examples, exam-style questions and step-by-step problem solving. For Mandarin, I offer structured lessons covering pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and everyday conversation. Lessons are usually 60 minutes. I study Engineering at UCL and have strong experience in mathematics and physics competitions. I teach GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, as well as Mandarin from beginner to intermediate level.
