About Akshay
My master’s and Ph. D. are from I. I. T. Bombay and the University of California, Davis. I have also taught in the University of Texas at Dallas. I love academics and my goal is to get my students to love academics. Specifically, I enjoy mathematics, physics, and the language skills required for the SAT and GRE. I believe that “small efforts over a long period of time lead to staggering successes”. (That’s a borrowed quote!) So I meet my students for an hour a day, each day of the week. We may miss a few classes now and then but we try to meet as often as possible.

*ATTENTION:* I am looking to fill students from March or April, 2024. If you write to me, we can initiate discussion, have a few trial classes and fix a start date around March or April, 2024.
Hello! The following will give you some insight on how I run my classes.
I meet all my students for one hour a day, seven days a week. This means that there are no designated holidays. This allows the students and I to plan our days off as and when we need them. With this kind of scheduling I usually end up having about 25 classes each month. There are months when I have met my students… wait for it… every single day!
My teaching strategy is to work out every single question from at least one standard book and solve a few full question papers for whatever course I am teaching. I do all this in class time at a pace comfortable for the student. For the SAT, I will do the same with any book of your choice. If I already have the book you like, then we are ready to roll. If I don’t have the book, you can have it delivered to me and we will be good to go.
I don’t ever assign homework or tests. Every couple of weeks or as I find it necessary I provide feedback to the parents. The feedback is provided over phone or video meetings. Any such discussions are outside of class time. I don’t like losing class time.
The ideal student would be a freshman or sophomore in high school. I would like to work with the student through the PSAT/NMSQT and build up to the SAT. It’d be especially nicer if the student is ambitious and looking to take a few AP exams, like say, math or physics. Being a freshman or sophomore gives us more time to prepare and do a good job on several exams. This increases the student’s chances of being accepted at good colleges.
My best students generally wind up near the top of their class even if they weren’t already there. It takes me about two months to assess a student and communicate to parents the best and worst case outcomes. So a couple of months in and I will tell you how far I can take the student.
I am looking for a student willing to work with me for a long time. This is why I ask for daily classes. In my opinion, payments by the hour inhibit learning because the student becomes conscious of the ticking clock. For this reason I prefer to be paid INR 8000 per month instead of being paid per hour. For INR 8750 we will get at least twenty-five classes and may even get more.

Perfect! Excellent teacher, coach, mentor, counselor. He not only seeks to build the child academically but also overall aspects of the child, like sincerity, diligence, hardwork. He has pulled my child's interests towards academics in such a way that he has turned towards it with joy and not with pressure or tension. His classes actually make the child to unwind, relax and begin to start liking the subject. After the pandemic effect over my child, we needed someone like Sir Akshay to truly guide and mentor my child into drawing his interests into studies and liking the subject. His hardworking, sincere and diligent nature has actually turned out to be a blessing to us. Very thankful to Sir for carefully guiding my child. We are highly privileged to have him with his vast in depth knowledge and experience to be my child's teacher. Thanks.
Perfect! Mr. Akshay is an excellent tutor with his own passion to teach. Highly recommend to prepare with him for digital SAT. Very serious attention for the class preparation. He also teaches via tablet and stylus which are very convenient for math classes.
