About Tara
I hold a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours), a Master of Fine Art (Research), and an Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design, achieving first-class results across all qualifications. My practice spans drawing, video art, and photography, and I have exhibited work both locally and internationally. I also maintain an ongoing research-led approach, which informs the theoretical foundation of my work as a professional artist.
In addition, as a qualified social worker, I bring an interdisciplinary perspective that integrates community art and social practice through workshop-based activities. My work engages with diverse groups, including First Nations communities and people from migrant backgrounds, across a wide range of ages.

I approach teaching art from a practice-led perspective, with the view that students of all skill levels can become competent through practice and repetition. I like to build students' confidence through positive and constructive advice and close attention to their individual skill level. Art workshops are available across all 2-D mediums, adapting to individual students' interests and aims.
The first lesson is an opportunity to discuss the individual goals of each student and to develop a lesson plan that targets desired skills and mediums.
Drawing is taught using observational methods, referencing live objects/environments, with the addition of photographic aids. Realistic drawing is taught which can then be creatively extended through different techniques and mediums. I explore a range of drawing mediums, including charcoal, pastels, pencil, and ink.
Community arts workshops are designed according to community needs, adapted to suit diverse demographics and contexts.
Essay writing is approached academically, using research methods and methodologies to build in-depth analyses of art history and theory topics.
