About Dr Amir
Hi, I’m Amir. I hold a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Melbourne and currently work as a Senior Stormwater Engineer in Melbourne. I also have teaching and tutoring experience at the University of Melbourne, where I work with students and help explain technical and mathematical concepts.
Mathematics has been an important part of my academic and professional career, and I enjoy helping students understand concepts that may initially seem difficult or confusing. I believe math becomes much easier when it is explained clearly, logically and step by step.
I aim to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence in problem solving.
I hold a current Victorian Working With Children Check and offer tutoring in Years 7–10 Mathematics and VCE General Mathematics.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s year level, current schoolwork and individual learning needs. I focus on helping students understand mathematical concepts rather than simply memorising formulas.
I explain concepts step by step using clear worked examples, then guide students through practice questions before encouraging them to solve problems independently. I identify areas where students are struggling and adjust the lesson accordingly.
A typical lesson can include reviewing schoolwork, explaining new or difficult concepts, guided problem solving, independent practice and preparation for upcoming tests or assessments. Additional practice questions and revision exercises can also be provided when appropriate.
I tutor Years 7–10 Mathematics and VCE General Mathematics, and lessons are suitable for students who need extra support as well as those looking to strengthen their skills and confidence.
