About Stephanie
I began teaching lessons to children in 1995 while obtaining a piano performance degree. I have been an adjunct piano instructor at various institutions since 2000. I have worked as an accompanist since 1988 and played for many vocalists, choral groups, and musical theatre, as well as directing local high school musical theater. During the pandemic, I got back into teaching young children again (aside from my own children, who both play) and realized how much I miss teaching children and beginners.

Lessons should be fun and motivate you to play on your own. I love working with children, especially beginners. I have taught advanced piano at the university level for over 20 years and am also adept at teaching advanced, classical repertoire. Finding a song or piece that students connect to is my favorite way to motivate students. I've seen over and over once that song starts to click everything else starts to fall into place. Every single student is different and my favorite part of teaching is finding out what motivates each individual. What will make this fun? Do you like rhythms? Do you like to sing along? Do you love Chopin or the Beatles or just want to play Heart and Soul over and over? All of those things can help lead to a deeper understanding of music (yes, even Heart and Soul). If you look forward to each and every lesson (because I am nice and terribly witty), it will lead to more preparation for the lesson and an overall good time. Music should be a stress reliever for any age and learning notes and songs is the best brain booster I know.

Stephanie is the best piano instructor I've had. We worked together while I was an undergraduate student at Drexel. Over the several years I've taken lessons with her, my attention to detail has multiplied by 100, which has carried into other independent learning in piano and outside of piano. Her teaching style is a great blend of lightheartedness and rigor that pushes a student to their full potential often without them noticing. There are a couple pieces that will live in my brain forever because of how thoroughly we worked through them!
