About Christopher
I have a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies, majoring in French language and culture. I started learning French at the age of 13, and gained a Band 6 in French Continuers for the HSC.
In the 6 years since leaving school, I’ve studied at France’s top political science university, taken a course in New Caledonia on how France’s language and cultured have influenced the island, and completed a research project on the declining use of France’s regional dialects.

I’m a strong believer of positive learning experiences and as such my lessons are centred on celebrating small, incremental achievements to make large goals seem not so scary.
My lessons are geared towards students learning anywhere from an A1 to B1 level. In NSW school subject terms, that includes Elective French in year 9 or 10, French Beginners for HSC, or French Continuers for HSC. For university students, this covers anything within the first four units of a school’s language program.
My lessons are usually structured around coursework the student is finding difficult and breaking it down into smaller, easier to understand components.
Lesson plans start with a brief refresher of what was covered in the last lesson, followed by an outline of the new expressions, verbs or grammar they’ll be learning that day. The new content will be put to use in an interactive activity aimed at engaging the student with the concept, then wrapping up with a low-stress quiz game to make sure the student’s understood.
For homework, I like to provide students with multimedia material suited to their level that increases their comprehension levels.
