I have an extremely adaptable and flexible teaching method. I base my classes on the student's needs and performance in the previous class. I practice active listening and have an eye for detail. My main aim is to help the student gain confidence in the subject.
I am a psychology university student. I have been giving lessons to school students for almost 2 years. I also help with ILETS and PTE preparation. I have my DCSI working with children clearance. I work well with students individually as I have learnt to alter my teaching methods according to the needs of my student however I can work with a small group as well.
There might be additional charges depending on the distance that has to be traveled or the time requested for the lessons.
• Uni Mentor (2020)
My role is to mentor and guide new first-year university students through their first semester in university and help them in their transition into university life as seamless as possible. This role has helped me gain soft skills and communication skills necessary while dealing with individuals who are anxious and sometimes can be difficult. This role has also developed my communication skills, electronic mail writing, and handling group events.
• Responsible Party Squad (2019- Present)
As a part of this program, we raised awareness about binge drinking culture in students. This collaboration helped me realize how to talk about sensitive subjects without being overbearing or sounding judgemental. It also enhanced my creative problem solving to attract students to our stalls and try activities.
• The Big Issue (2018-2019)
In this role, I worked as a student assistant organizer. I worked with the vendors experiencing extreme social anxiety and were unable to sell and communicate with their customers. I developed activities individually and for groups to build a feeling of community. I helped the vendors develop their sales pitch and build their conversational and communication skills. I practiced active listening to understand the problems and grievances and thereby came up with creative solutions that would be suited to each of them individually and catered to their strengths and weaknesses.
• Raphael School for Disabled, India (2017-2018)
As a part of this program, I volunteered as a teacher for students who suffered from learning and physical disability. It was one of the most challenging and formative experiences. It helped me build my listening and observational skills. I had to be understanding as well as empathetic. I developed my creative problem-solving skills and built my soft skills as I needed my students to trust me and interact with me.
Maitreyee brings a hard work ethic with high attention to detail and professionalism when mentoring or teaching fellow peers. She is kind and patient plus has a knack for communicating in a way which is easy to follow or understand. I highly recommend!
