About Nika

Hi! I'm Nika, a third-year student at the University of Toronto pursuing a double major in Applied Statistics and Economics. Mathematics has always been one of my favorite subjects, and I genuinely enjoy helping others understand concepts that initially seem difficult.

During high school, I often helped classmates with math and chemistry, which taught me how rewarding it is to see someone finally understand a problem they have been struggling with. I have also volunteered at the Cooper Koo Family YMCA, where I worked with children and teenagers. That experience helped me develop patience, communication skills, and the ability to connect with younger students.

I understand that everyone learns differently, and I believe a good tutor should be approachable, encouraging, and willing to explain something in several ways until it makes sense.

My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but also to make math feel less intimidating and help them develop confidence in their own abilities. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.

I believe that understanding math is much more important than simply memorizing formulas. My goal is to help students feel confident, ask questions, and develop problem-solving skills they can use independently.

I start each lesson by identifying what the student understands and where they need extra support. Then, I explain concepts step by step using simple examples, followed by guided practice and exercises they can try on their own. I also review homework, help prepare for tests, and adjust my teaching approach to each student's learning pace.

As an Applied Statistics and Economics student at the University of Toronto, I have a strong mathematical background. I also have experience helping classmates with math during high school and volunteering with children and teenagers at the YMCA.

My lessons are designed for middle and high school students, especially those who want to strengthen their foundations, improve their grades, or become more comfortable with challenging math topics. I aim to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
