About Zetian
Hi, I’m Zetian! I’m currently a third-year Actuarial Studies and Computer Science student at UNSW.
I achieved a Band 6 in accelerated Mathematics Advanced and an E4 in Mathematics Extension 1 in the HSC, and I have around one year of experience tutoring math.
Having gone through HSC math myself, I understand that math can often feel difficult when concepts are introduced too quickly or without enough explanation. I try to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and working through problems at their own pace.
I’m patient, reliable and adaptable in the way I teach. Rather than expecting every student to learn in the same way, I aim to explain concepts from different perspectives until we find an approach that makes sense to them.
I tutor students from Primary School through to HSC level and am based in Sydney. I’m happy to tutor online or meet at a convenient location for the student.

My approach is to focus on understanding rather than memorizing. I like to break difficult concepts into smaller, intuitive steps, work through examples together, and then give students the opportunity to solve similar problems independently.
I also help students develop effective problem-solving techniques, identify common mistakes and build confidence when approaching unfamiliar questions.
Lessons are typically around one hour, although I’m happy to adjust the length depending on the student’s needs. Lessons can focus on regular schoolwork, catching up on difficult topics, exam preparation, or working ahead of the school curriculum.
