About Pilar
I´m a highly committed professional who has been working on a one to one basis with students aged 5 to 17 for seven years. I have also worked at schools, assessing teachers on ways to provide lessons that are accesible to the variety of learners they have in their class. At schools, my role was also to integrate students with special needs to the common classroom, studying their specific needs and strengths in order to provide a learning environment that fits their characteristics.
I have worked with students who were diagnosed with Autism, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder, Dysphasia, ADD and Dyslexia.

I´m passionate about human connections and how we learn.
My main areas of expertise are Dyslexia, Dysphasia and Dyscalculia. Nevertheless, my approach to learning disorders is that they are a consequence of context demands, so I work on the relationship between the learner and his/her context. I focus on strengths rather than weaknesses, in order to build confidence and self-esteem.
The first step will be to get to know each other, establish empathy and a safe learning environment. Sessions will have a pre-determined but flexible structure, in which the student can anticipate tasks which will be relevant to pre-set goals. Self appraisal will be a key aspect to enhance an autonomous and self-regulated learning process.
