About Sophia
Graduating UWA with a Bachelor Arts in Music and Specialist Music Studies in 2018, I have been tutoring the flute since my second year of study. In 2012 I began as a private tutor and in the same year took on work at St Norbert College in Queens Park. I have also been employed as a peripatetic teacher at Mercedes College and Scotch College.

I tailor my lessons to individual needs. Though I have strong belief that a solid understanding of the theory behind music is what builds a proficient musician, as young people approach learning their instrument I believe it is important that there is an even balance between understanding the instrument they are undertaking and also being able to explore their own musical tastes. I am happy to prepare students to play classical music, sit AMEB exams, or simply play for fun. Students I have taught engage in an array of musical repertoires from traditional repertoire, band and symphony orchestra parts to their favourite Disney or pop tunes. Each person is individual and I believe their musical taste reflects that - so too should their lessons !

Beginner lessons start at $25 for 30 minutes. Depending on student desire and level of playing & stamina we can extend lesson time from there.
