About Jaspar
I am a guitarist who has been playing for about 4 and half years, with an interest in music theory which has driven my own independent learning as well as my high school education in this area. I am currently studying Jazz and Improvisation at the VCA, 1st year, and there is a strong theory component in this course, as improvisation depends on it.
I can offer beginner to intermediate lessons in which I will cover the fundamentals of understanding music and help deepen my students level of comprehension of music they listen to and of their own playing.

I begin with introducing Melody, Harmony and Rhythm as the 3 most basic components of music, and give the most simple explanations I can of each, with examples that I play on my guitar.
I follow this by structuring lessons based upon the student's challenges and interests, e.g. helping with reading sheet music they're working, helping them analyse and play a piece they're interested in, addressing gaps in understanding that impede their progress at school etc.
