About Matthew
I am a professional violinist and teacher who has been playing for 24 years and teaching, both in schools and privately, for 2 years. I completed my Bachelors of Music degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in 2018. Since I have worked as a performer and session musician, playing with various orchestras, chamber ensembles and bands. In recent years I have discovered the joy of sharing my passion through teaching. As a musician I have always loved to explore playing a range of styles, such as folk music, jazz and café music, as well as classical music and strive to incorporate this into my teaching.

I teach students of all ages and abilities and aim to make every lesson helpful, fun and rewarding. Trained as a classical violinist, but with a broad range of experience in many styles, I tailor lessons to meet the interests and needs of each student. This could include; -First lessons for beginners of any age -Preparing for grade exams (ABRSM, Trinity or RSL Classical) -Exploring different styles such as folk/fiddle, jazz or rock and pop -Working on more advanced repertoire or preparing for college or university applications -Studying music theory, composition or improvisation
