About Francesca
My name is Francesca, and I am a professional concert violinist and teacher. I have over twenty years of experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. I have experience teaching children in private lessons. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where I studied with Joel Smirnoff, Jaime Laredo, and Jinjoo Cho, and I received my Masters Degree from Rice Univeristy's Shepherd School of Music where I studied with Paul Kantor. My orchestral and chamber music experiences have allowed me to travel to Europe and Asia, and I have performed in Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. I have played under some of the greatest conductors including Andris Nelsons and Herbert Blomstedt as a Tanglewood Music Center fellow. I am certified in the Suzuki Violin Method Books I and II, and I will soon be certified in Book III. I have taught private students throughout my life and sincerely enjoy teaching students of all levels.

I treat each student of mine as a unique individual. I aim to be a positive and encouraging presence in their lives while helping them reach their musical and artistic goals. I teach modified Suzuki which I believe gives a student incredible structure but also leaves room for different learning styles. I teach my students the technical aspects of playing the violin and encourage the development of their individual artistic ear by listening to a special piece each week of their choosing. Some of the best music ever composed was written for the violin, and my hope is that my students feel fulfilled in being able to play that music.
