About David
I am a visual artist with a dual Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Visual Arts, currently pursuing a Diploma in Art Therapy at CECAT Sydney. With over 16 years of professional experience, including 6 years as a resident artist for Winsor & Newton and Liquitex in Victoria and Tasmania, trained by Sydney-based art experts, I bring technical excellence, industry knowledge, and a passion for teaching.
I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping each student discover their artistic voice. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, I adapt my approach to your goals and learning style. Art, for me, is a vehicle for transformation and human connection — and I bring that belief into every class.

My approach to teaching watercolor is rooted in both technical mastery and creative exploration. I believe that every student has a unique artistic voice, and my role is to provide the tools, techniques, and confidence to bring it to life.
Each lesson is carefully structured to build foundational skills while encouraging personal expression. We begin with essential techniques — wet-on-wet, dry-on-wet, and dry-on-dry — using professional watercolors, gouache, India ink, acrylic ink, and even ballpoint pens. I guide students through color theory, paper selection, brush handling, and the integration of mixed media to enrich their work.
My classes are designed for adults and young adults at all levels — from complete beginners to advanced practitioners seeking to refine their craft. I adapt my teaching to each student's goals, whether they are preparing a portfolio, exploring a new hobby, or deepening their artistic practice.
I hold a dual Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Visual Arts and am currently completing a Diploma in Art Therapy at CECAT Sydney. With over 16 years of professional experience — including 6 years as a resident artist for Winsor & Newton and Liquitex in Victoria and Tasmania, trained by Sydney-based art experts — I bring both technical excellence and a deep understanding of the creative process to every class.
Each session runs for 2 hours, allowing ample time for demonstration, guided practice, and personalized feedback. I encourage students to bring their own materials — watercolor sets, brushes, paper of their preference, and an apron — so they can learn with the tools they will continue to use beyond the classroom.
Beyond technique, I am passionate about art as a vehicle for transformation and human connection. My background in art therapy informs a teaching approach that is patient, encouraging, and attuned to each student's emotional and creative needs.
Whether you are taking your first steps with a brush or looking to elevate your existing skills, I invite you to join my classes and discover the joy and depth of watercolor painting.
