About Mattea
My approach to vocal coaching is driven by my unwavering belief that anyone can sing as long as they are given the right tools and techniques, and a safe space to try. Despite over 8 years of prior experience, my own perspective was changed by a single vocal coach with whom I only had 5 lessons. Within those few hours, she was able to not only successfully coach me in vocal improvisation and sight reading which ultimately led to my acceptance to Berklee College of Music for vocals, but also to instill a level of confidence in my abilities that has continued to this day, 6 years later. My goal is to be that pivotal figure to someone else out there!

I firmly believe that everyone has the potential to sing, provided they are equipped with the right tools, techniques, and a supportive environment! Creating a safe and encouraging space for my students to explore and develop their vocal abilities is a key focus of mine.
My own expertise lies in vocal performance in a broad range of genres, including pop, choral, R&B, indie, and musical theatre. I also have experience in vocal improvisation, sight-reading, and performance skills.
Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Assessment and Goal Setting: I begin by evaluating the student's current skill level and discussing their goals.
2. Warm-up and Vocal Exercises: Engage the student in vocal warm-ups and exercises aimed at improving range, pitch, and control.
3. Repertoire Selection: Together, we select songs that align with the student's interests and skill level, focusing on interpretation, expression, and performance.
4. Technique Development through Practice: I teach fundamental vocal techniques such as breath support, resonance, and articulation, using the chosen repertoire to do so.
5. Continuous Feedback and Guidance: I provide constructive feedback and guidance on areas for improvement, tailored to the individual needs of the student.
6. Building Confidence: I make sure to incorporate activities and exercises that allow my students to feel comfortable, confident, and self-assured.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons cater to individuals of all levels, from beginners to advanced students, who are passionate about improving their vocal skills and pursuing their musical aspirations. Whether you are looking to polish up your singing or have never taken a singing lesson before, this is the right place for you!
