About Caleb

I am a 23-year-old musician originally from Perth who has played in bands since I was 15. I love using my guitar to write music and make art and adore listening to new exciting music locally and online. I am lucky enough to have been able to work on the stage, and in the studio with my friends and collaborators across many different genres and styles including Alternative, Indie, Shoegaze, Pop, Jazz, Funk, Neo - RnB, Metal and Punk/Post-punk. I have been teaching guitar for over 2 years and playing for over 12 and attended university to further study the guitar and music broadly. I am happy to take on students of any level and can adapt to creating different age groups as well!

About the lesson

My approach to guitar tutoring is all about tailoring the specific ideas to the individual students! Playing what the students want to play and allowing them to follow their own path is the very essence of why playing guitar and making art is important in my eyes. I believe the best teachers are descriptive not prescriptive and that is what I try to follow with every student. This can involve things like breaking down the basic elements of a song, exploring music theory and its use in songwriting, work on technique to play a solo that may seem just out of reach and help with songwriting techniques. I am happy to take on students of any level and can adapt to different age groups as well! I love helping others find their own voice with their instrument as I believe the things you can learn from your guitar playing can apply to your everyday life and philosophies. I am lucky enough to have been taught by some of the best guitarists across Australia. With the skills passed down to me, and the techniques I have honed myself, I have been able to help lots of people from different backgrounds take steps to achieve their goals.

Details

Flexible when it comes to travel and or lessons less than 1 hour. :) Price per hour is based on a 45-minute lesson window with 10 minutes for initial setup and then 5 minutes for a lesson summary review with student. This is to allow ample time to focus on the contents and helps students myself and the students settle into a good routine. :) Recommended scheduling would be weekly with potential extras for any upcoming performances or assignments.
