About Lea
While still a student at the University of Westminster, studying a contemporary art degree, I joined a small team producing a Photography Festival in London, called PhotoMonth. I quickly assumed a lot of responsibility on behalf of the team, liaising with galleries such as Autograph, Whitechapel Gallery, WREN London, and Tate. My role as press and marketing liaison gave me insight into the skills needed to navigate the marketing and promotion of artistic projects. This past October, PhotoMonth hosted over 60 exhibitions across London, talks and events, and appeared in TimeOut and The Guardian. As a part of PhotoMonth, I curated an exhibition of graduate work, on behalf of the University of Westminster. I am now the Director of Photograph, the arts organisation that produces PhotoMonth, a curator, and writer, offering portfolio reviews and application support for art school, open calls, residencies, and funding to those interested in growing their art career in London. My aim is to give students the tools to design their careers and contributions within this vibrant art scene. My path has not been straight, and it likely never will be. I initially began my degree at NYU Shanghai and grew up between the U.S. and Spain. My affinity to cultural exchange and global mobility gives me a particularly international perspective on the demands of various art markets and scenes.
