About Fran

Hey! I'm Fran. I've been skating for over 10 years, exploring different areas like roller derby, ramps and jam skating aka roller dance.
I am passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge and I believe that the most essential thing in our lessons will be the vibes and having fun!.
Skating is all about enjoying , so I will make sure you feel relaxed and comfortable

About the lesson

I teach fundamental skating skills including basic posture, movement, how to fall, how to stop, rotations, jumps, transitions and going backwards as well as more advanced styles such as:

Roller dance - slow-paced moves, routines and rhythm! will prepare you for these summer roller disco nights at indoor and outdoor rinks.

Ramps - bowls, carving, dropping in, tricks, stalls, airs. Everything you need to build confidence to start at the skatepark.

I offer my lessons at Finsbury Park / Bethnal Green

Perfect! Fran is a very amazing skater and teacher, she is very patient, great at explaining new tricks and I found myself learning very quickly with her. I really found these lessons very enjoyable and rewarding!!

Perfect! I was very nervous going into the my first ever skating lesson but Fran was very patient with me and took her time taking me through the basics of skating, I gained more confidence as the lesson progressed and I'm looking forward to more lessons with Fran. Great experience, great teacher.

Perfect! My daughter (15yrs) has been wanting to roller skate for quite some time but couldn’t find the right teacher until now. I have to say she is lucky to have found a teacher like Fran whose warmth, patience and motivation couldn’t have been a better combination for my daughter to persevere and enjoy at the same time. Perfect! Had so much fun learning with Fran! I was a bundle of nerves to start but she eased me in and her fun encouraging teaching style is perfect. We made amazing progress and Fran sent me videos of our session to help me keep up with practice! Definitely recommend :)

What age did you start playing sports? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.
I started skating when I was about 26 yo. For different reasons, I felt like there were no sports that I could identify with until I discovered roller derby, a contact sport on skates. Since that moment I couldn't stop.
What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?
Roller skating is my top one so far. At the moment I am discovering my dancer side, which I guess will be the next point to reach to complement my skating skills.
What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?
It's just about the fact when you realise you can do EVERYTHING you want, just try, try and try, drill and voila!
Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?
My progress is my favourite trophy. Also being able to explore different types of skating, which are all based on different skating skills.
How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?
When you convert your sports side into a lifestyle then you become a sportsperson. It's not about the time, but all about priorities.
If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?
I would go with the wisest one, and I'd ask what makes them happy.
How do you help people stay motivated?
Just showing them even the little progress they can do in an hour or so. You will always get better than when you started.
What makes you a Superprof in sports?
My passion, nothing else.
