About Jessica
About Me
I’m a creative, hands-on sewing enthusiast with experience learning from experienced sewists in classroom settings and volunteering with a nonprofit sewing collective. I also have experience working with children and enjoy creating supportive, encouraging environments where students can ask questions, experiment, and build confidence.
I’m especially passionate about upcycling, sustainability, vintage fabrics, and thrifted materials. I’m also actively engaged in online sewing and creative communities, so I love keeping up with current sewing trends, techniques, patterns, and creative inspiration. Whether you’re interested in making your own clothes, transforming thrifted pieces, or trying the latest DIY trend, I’m excited to help you bring your ideas to life.
As a sewist myself, I know how overwhelming it can be to figure everything out as a beginner. I love sharing the practical tips, tricks, resources, and online communities that I wish I had known about when I started. My goal is to make sewing feel approachable, creative, and relevant, while helping students develop the confidence and skills to eventually tackle projects independently.

My Sewing Lessons
My lessons are hands-on, beginner-friendly, and project-based. I focus on helping students build confidence with the sewing machine while learning practical skills they can apply to future projects. Rather than simply following a pattern, I like to explain why we’re doing each step so students can eventually sew independently.
A typical first lesson would focus on getting comfortable with the machine: learning how to thread it, wind and insert a bobbin, adjust basic settings, practice sewing straight lines and turning corners, and understand seam allowances. We may finish by making a small, approachable project like a scrunchie so you leave your first lesson with something you made yourself!
From there, lessons can build toward larger projects and more advanced techniques, such as reading patterns, fabric cutting, garment construction, alterations, zippers, hems, and working with different fabrics. Projects can be adapted to your interests and goals, whether you want to make clothing, accessories, home items, or upcycle thrifted pieces.
I also love connecting students with resources, tutorials, patterns, and other tools that can help them continue learning between lessons. I’ll share the little tips, tricks, and troubleshooting techniques that I wish I had known when I was first learning to sew!
Who are lessons for?
My lessons are primarily designed for beginner sewists of all ages, including children, teens, and adults with little to no sewing experience. No prior experience is necessary, and I’m happy to tailor lessons to your skill level, interests, and learning pace.
What sets me apart: I combine hands-on sewing experience with experience working with children and creating supportive, welcoming learning environments. My goal is to make sewing feel creative, approachable, and empowering—not intimidating!
