I've found that, as many other teachers have already said, teaching a foreign language without context is not impossible but is harder and boring for students. I promote the use of flahcards, games, videos, conversation simulations, songs, and any other visual or sound support that allows students and teachers to make a clearer understanding about what we are talking about.
